Neuroscience is an interdisciplinary field at the forefront of medicine because it draws upon biology, chemistry, psychology, physics, and mathematics to examine the nervous system.  Over the past two decades, neuroscience’s scope has expanded greatly due to many technological advances.  Consequently, it is now possible to examine the nervous system at the molecular, cellular, developmental, structural, functional, and evolutionary levels.

The neuroscience program at DAYA focuses on developing safe and effective medication for treating two major disorders – neuropathic pain and schizophrenia.  Both disorders have a strong neurological basis and greatly impact quality of life.  Moreover, treatments for both have tremendous potential in the global market.
